Alexa is not very accurate like you say, some good websites can only have 1M ranking and i read somewhere that someone has 6M in the beginning, then, someone with Alexa toolbar visits his sites and his ranking went to 1M with just one visitor. But in term of marketing/website flipping, both are important.
